Bluegate Vineyard is located in the West Kootenays on a gentle slope, south facing with deep soils a perfect terroir to grow grapes. I started with a few plants in my yard 17 years ago. That produced awesome wine so I thought it would be a good bet to fence in an area and produce 50 -75 gallon a year . Which I did in 2014 and in 2015 planted over 120 vines.

This season was exceptionally hot and dry so i had to irrigate a little, but all in all we picked about 3-4 weeks early.
I have a computer/weather station assisted program that helps me keep track of Growing Degree Days (GDD) all this is useful in keeping track of growing conditions throughout the year. we have invested in all new stainless steel fermentation tanks. Plus American oak barrels. All this helps in producing a great organic wine without additives.
